Ride Reports, Fu-bars  and Tall Tales :

August Meeting

The meeting was held at Lake Tiak-O’Khata Resort in Louisville, MS.  It was a hot but beautiful day to ride.  We had a large turnout and longtime members Craig Vechorik and Richard Coyle joined us for the meal, meeting and afternoon.  Good to have you!! This was a fantastic meeting because after lunch we went to Vetch’s home and he gave us a tour of his garage. Vetch is a true world renowned expert and restorer of vintage BMW’s. He has now retired and Max BMW has bought his parts and several of his bikes. Howeve,r the garage still has many bikes, photos and other memorabilia. Oh, and he also has several restored Model T’s and a custom ‘39 Ford pickup truck. WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ride Reports or Great Adventure Reports:

Bobby Brooks led a ride to Bama Bucks in Sardis City, AL from July 29th to July 31st.  Alan and Laurissa Henderson, Bryant Herring, Rickey Hill and David Pell joined him on the ride.  The first night was spent in Rome, GA and Guntersville, AL on the second night.  Great riding, great roads, great food and great fellowship.  Alan has planned a new ride for September as mentioned in the minutes above.  Come join us.

July Meeting at French Camp

June Ride Reports

Dan Stubblefield and Kerry Gibson did a couple of RTEs to Crystal Springs, MS and around the Madison area.

Bobby Brooks, Alan and Laurissa Henderson and Rickey Hill rode from Mississippi up to Essex Junction, VT for the BMW MOA Rally.  They left on Friday and arrived in Vermont on Tuesday. Bobby is a fantastic ride master and took us on some great roads and the scenery was very good.  Alan and Laurissa spent 3 days at the Rally and then headed to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and rode the Cabot Trail.  They rode through 15 states, and two provinces in Canada. Great trip but they were glad to make it home. The food up north is good, in its own right, but Alan set up a RTE with Dan, Tommy, and Richard. The food at Mama Hamil’s is hard to beat. Bobby and Rickey attended one day at the Rally and headed out to explore.  They rode up Mount Washington in New Hampshire before pointing their bikes south. Even though not on a bike, Tommy took a fantastic ride out west to Moab with his wife Diane. They rode the desert trails in a hummer and then to top it off rode to the top of Pike’s Peak.

Tommy and Diane also rode to Donna Jean’s in Forest for lunch and wanted to report it had reopened.

Steve Harrison and Ian Ferguson also rode solo up to Vermont for the rally.

Steve: What a great ride. I liked West Virginia more than I thought I would…..

John Wheeler, his wife Denise and family (aka dogs) did a car trip to Marfa, TX.  He highly recommended visiting there.  Said he would like to turn it into a motorcycle trip, John, plan it and let’s see what kind of response we can get.

February Ride Reports

Ian Fergusson flew to New Zealand for an 18 day ride along the beautiful, twisty roads on the South Island of New Zealand. He still had a smile on this face from the memories of the ride.   It was a guided tour, one he highly recommends.

Alan and Laurissa did some local rides, scouting for future meetings.

Bobby Brooks does not play he likes miles and rode down to Gulfport for a look see.

Others like Dan and Tommy ride almost every week to places to eat.

January Ride Reports

Alan and Laurissa Henderson and Dan Stubblefield rode from Madison to Stockton. AL for The Last Ride of the Year. They met up with Ricky Hill and Steve Harrison. It was a beautiful but cold day. Temps started out at 27 degrees but the 440 mile day was a good one. but Had a great ride back from Stockton, AL

Dan Stubblefield and Kerry Gibson RTE at Hamil’s.

Bobby Brooks and Bryant Herring started a ride but had to give up when Bryant’s clutch went out on him. Such are the joys of riding.

Ricky Hill rode to St. Stephen’s, LA to visit a lime mining area.

Alan and Laurissa did some scouting for future meetings and found a great mom and pop just south of Grenada.

December Ride Reports

Alan and Laurissa rode their bike to Winfield, AL December 5 and 6th to attend the
Eldridge Children’s Home run. They had a great dinner Friday night at the home
and lunch Saturday at the home. They had a great ride over on Friday, December
the 5th. The weather was a little chili but the roads were awesome.
• Dan Stubblefield and Tommy Smith rode to Forest to eat at Donna Jean’s, the
former GardenPatch. The only thing that has changed is the name. The food is still
good.
